I was just struck the other day how much influence people in the service sector can wield. I had two seperate incidences: one of a guard wishing me good morning with a smile and another of an immigration lady snapping impatiently. Both incidences had very different effects on me. One made me smile and brightened my mood while the other brought a scowl to my face and darkened my mood.
The phrase “smile and the world smiles with you” comes to mind and reminds me that whether we care or not, we carry influence in some measure big or small. I guess it’s our responsibility to use our influence wisely.
